Details on Tutoring Session

      This was my first tutoring experience and it was horrible. I thought that I would of had to help someone who had their work ready or either was confused about something and wanted to speak to me about it to get a better understanding. I was wrong and the tutee that I had to help was not even organized or even focused on what he was suppose to write about. His topic was about recess coaching and he had a draft ready for me but it was poorly organized and everything was worded in a rushed way. He told me that he wrote this paper in ten minutes and he was on drugs when he wrote the paper. So half of the things that he wrote about were mixed up. I asked him for the assignment page so I can get a clear understanding of what he was suppose to write about. After reading the direction he was told to write a summary about what he read and list points and argue on the point. I asked him if he could read the essay to me and he looked at me like he was in a completely different world. I then picked up his paper and started to read what he wrote. He had general ideas and didn't explain nothing in details. His thesis statement was I think that recess coaching is a good idea. I thought this was too general and I asked him why he thought recess coaching was a good idea and he started to explain to me. After he finish I told him that was a good idea and that he should put what he just said to me in his thesis. I told him that the thesis is when you list things you want to talk about as your general topic and in the body of your essay that's when you go into details about the things you list. Also for the body paragraphs every time you list a new idea you should start a new paragraph so that the essay will flow better. After giving my tutee several points into making his essay better I told him to go ahead and start fixing it up so I could read it he told me that he didn't feel like doing that and how he just wants to get this over with. I told him if he is always on drugs before class and can not participate in what the professor is doing he will not be able to pass the cat w test. He told me that he was not suppose to be in this class and the reason why he is taking this class is because he didn't show up for the cat w test. He kept babbling and he became extremely loud and disturbed the tutor next to me. I could not control this tutee and by the time he calmed down the time was up for tutoring  I told him that he should fix these mistakes and come with a better essay next time we meet and I will be able to help him and it would be better if he stayed off the drugs.  His response was I will try.
