The Aspect of Sondra Perl's Thinking That Is Most Important To Me

The aspect of Sondra Perl thinking that seems more important to me is felt sense. This relates to me in many ways because I personally think that I can express myself better when speaking to someone. I honestly say everything that comes to mind about that topic or idea that I am talking about. But the only problem I have is when I want to get down everything on paper it does not come out the same way or I get stuck and don't know what to write. I think the reason for this is because I get caught up in projective structure and I am worrying about how it would look or sound and when I actually get to the paper to write down all of my ideas everything goes away and I get stuck and don't say exactly what I want to say as if I was speaking to someone.

  1. Ok, Bibi. Good basic response. I hope reading Perl and thinking about this helps you overcome your problem getting overwhelmed by projective structuring. It is always ok to begin by just freely writing whatever you feel or "really want to say," or to write first thoughts as if you are talking. You can always go back to free writing whenever you feel stuck.

Of course, the other issue is that once you have done that, you must go back and figure out what to cut, what's worth keeping, and how to revise and structure what's left. As that process unfolds, you will find yourself needing to write new materials, or write through things you only got down in notational form during free writing. As you need to generate more text, either laying out your ideas or writing the connective tissue between your ideas, you will constantly go back to the free writing to help figure out what you "really want to say." It's a cycle, a circle, a process.
